vs. Chicago Wolves
at the Allstate Arena
This was my first road game of the season, and my first trip to the home of the Wolves since 2002.

The Admirals played with a short bench of only 16 skaters due to several problems with injury and illness on the team roster. Chicago's bread and butter play of the night was on the power play, where Brad Larsen demonstrated perfect screens to block goaltender Brian Finley's view of any long shots. That play worked a few times, giving Chicago a 3-1 lead after two periods.

With just under five minutes to go in regulation and down 5-2, Claude Noel took the gamble to pull the goalie for an extra attacker on a power play. Instead of pulling within two goals, they allowed an empty netter that finished off Milwaukee's night.

The highlight of my trip was a half hour chat with a hockey fan from Winnipeg with a rather strong Canadian accent. Traffic to Chicago was light, so I arrived a half hour before the doors opened. This gentleman approaches me and asks questions about the arena, assuming that I was a local fan. After letting him know a little about me, he talked and talked and talked. He was in town on business and had time to take in a game. It was most refreshing to have an intelligent conversation about hockey, especially since it was with someone with an another viewpoint of the sport.

Fans travelling to Chicago in the future please note, the tolls are going to be doubled as of Jan. 1.
