vs. San Antonio Rampage
at the SBC Center
The Lone Star State streak is over. Dating back to two seasons, the Admirals have had an eleven game winning streak in the state of Texas against Houston and San Antonio. The Rampage were able to hang tough and come out with a shootout victory over Milwaukee.
The team played with only five defensemen because Kevin Klein hurt his groin, but he is expected back soon. Ed Campbell was in Milwaukee, leaving the team shorthanded. I have no idea if a forward was playing the role of the sixth defenseman or if the team ran a five man defensive rotation all night. I didn't hear Kyle mention how the team dealt with it.
Jeremy Yablonski got his second goal of the season on a goal described by Kyle Schultz as a 'lunch pail' play where Cam Severson fought hard to feed Yablonski in front of the goal.
Kamil Kreps proved to be the hero for San Antonio by tying the game in the 2nd period and getting the only marker in the shootout. Travis Scott finished with 34 saves to earn the first star of the game. Brian Finley made 25 saves in the loss.
Despite this being the third meeting between the teams in the last 11 days, there was no fisticuffs or ugly incidents that come from two teams being sick of each other.
