Before Kyle Schultz could get in a sylable to start the radio broadcast, there was a fight to begin the game between Jeremy Yablonski and Mike Hoffman. Hoffman stands at 6'5", but according to Kyle, Jeremy dominated the fight.
Milwaukee's backup goaltender, Seamus Kotyk, started his first game of the season against his former team. Andrew Hutchinson, Brandon Segal, and Yablonski all played in their first games of the year. Mike Matteucci and Libor Pivko (injured?) sat out.
After a scoreless first period, the Barons took the lead early in the second period on a goal by Christian Ehrhoff. While killing a penalty minutes later, the Barons were awarded a penalty shot to Marcel Goc, who was successful in getting the puck past Kotyk.
Doug Murray was given a gift by gathering up a loose puck just as he left the penalty box, and he scored on the breakaway to give the Barons a big 3-0 lead. Moments later Murray was called for boarding, and the Admirals capitized on that power play to get back into the game thanks to Segal's first goal of the season.
The Admirals bookended the third period with a few key goals. Six seconds into the third period, Vernon Fiddler launched a long shot that beat Cleveland goalie Nolan Schaefer to put the Admirals within one goal. With 33 seconds remaining in regulation, Segal scored his second goal of the game to tie it up.
For the second game in a row, the Admirals skated into overtime and saw Timofei Shishkanov bring home the game winner before a shootout could determine things.
