For the second night in a row, the team had a long pregame Calder Cup presentation, and perhaps as a result started the game sluggish for the second night in a row.

The teams traded first period power play goals, with Rochester's Jeff Jilson scoring a few minutes into the game and Milwaukee's Wyatt Smith tied it up late in the period.

Smith scored again in the second period to give the lead to the Admirals, but the Amerks leading scorer, Jason Botterill responded with a tying goal after the 12 minute mark.

A flurry of scoring in the middle of the thrid period gave the game a short roller coaster ride. Three goals in 61 seconds. Mike Matteucci gave the Admirals the lead with his first goal of the season. Derek Roy responded 21 seconds later, but Vernon Fiddler regained the lead for Milwaukee moments later.

Rochester pulled goaltender Ryan Miller for an extra attacker, and the plan worked when Botterill lit the lamp with 18 seconds left in regulation.

As overtime began, it entered into everyone's mind that we might enjoy the first shootout of the season, but Timofei Shishkanov put that on ice by scoring in the 5 minute overtime period to give Milwaukee the win.
