It took this long for the Admirals to get the first bonafide winning streak of the season, as they won their third straight game... all of them in the state of Texas.

On goals by Dave Scatchard and Chris Mueller, the Admirals held on to defeat San Antonio 2-1 Tuesday night after winning a pair against Houston earlier in the week. Rookie goaltender Chet Pickard has been between the pipes for all three victories after starting netminder Mark Dekanich has struggled in recent games.

The win also puts Milwaukee in a 5-way tie for 2nd in the division with 21 points. The Admirals have played the fewest games amongst the bunch, giving them a fair claim as being the actual 2nd place team.

Next up for the team is a two game set against the division leading Texas Stars (14-8, 32 points). It will be the Admirals first ever visit to Cedar Park, Texas (near Austin). They finish up their six game Lone Star road trip with another game in San Antonio on Saturday.

Everyone, have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday. Don't eat too much and be nice to your in-laws!

As promised, I gathered together photos from my trip to the Blackhawks-Sharks game from last weekend. Check them out here.

I didn't listen to tonight's Admirals game in Houston, but I noticed in the box score that Ryan Jones managed a Gordie Howe hat trick against his former team. Jones' goal was the game winner, as they held on to win 3-2 after leading 3-0 in the third period.

The last 12 days have been miserable for me. I had a nasty bout of pneumonia along with bruised ribs. Every cough brought with it an agonizing pain. It was bad enough to make me miss two Admirals games and six days at work.

A day before I got sick, I had purchased tickets for last Sunday's game between San Jose and Chicago as a birthday gift to my friend. Her favorite Admiral from last season was Jed Ortmeyer, and he's had a productive year with the Sharks. On the day of the game, I was feeling about 90% better from my ailments, but I wasn't going to back off from giving my friend her gift.

I managed to get a great deal on fourth row tickets seven seats to the left of the Hawks bench. We had a good view of almost the entire rink, and we managed to take a buttload of photographs. The lighting was not as great as we have at the BC, and it was a challenge to avoid the glass partitions while shooting the action, but I'm happy with several shots I did get.

The special theme of the night was to honor the recently retired Jeremy Roenick, who played eight seasons as a Blackhawk. We received a commerative poster and were treated to several highlight clips of JR's time with Chicago. During the game, he sat in a suite along with former teammate and current Chicago Wolves defenseman Chris Chelios. The Wolves were in Texas that weekend, but Chelios flew back early in order to attend the Hawks game.

Myself, I didn't care who won... there are several players on each team that I liked... Kane, Toews, Byfuglien, Thornton, Heatley, Marleau, and of course, Ortmeyer. I got my wish - an exciting game in what I believe could be a preview of the Western Conference Final. A special bonus for me was seeing referee Kerry Fraser for the first time.

The game was tied at the first intermission after goals by Brent Sopel and Dany Heatley. Early in the second period, Jason Demers scored his first pro goal on a power play. The 21 year-old Sharks defenseman played his first pro season last year in Worcester. Forty-five seconds later, Patrick Marleau gave the Sharks a 3-1 lead.

During the second intermission at every Hawks home game, four fans (two children and two adults) shoot towards a small hole in a board placed over the face of a goal. On this night, an eight year old boy put his first shot from the blue line into the hole, winning a vacation from United Airlines. Not to be outdone, a lady scored on her second attempt from center ice.

Patrick Kane scored about eight minutes into the third period to make it a one goal game. The 21,130 fans in attendance rocked the building after the Hawks tied the game with 1:19 left in regulation on a goal by John Madden.

The game went to overtime, and the building once again exploded with cheers when Brent Seabrook scored to give the Hawks a 4-3 victory.

Although he didn't figure in on the scoresheet, Ortmeyer impressed me in the 14 minutes of ice time he saw during the game. He worked hard and had a few scoring opportunities. He was on the team's third line along with former Admiral Scott Nichol and Manny Malhotra.

With the Admirals on a long road trip, I'm going to sort through our photos and put them on a separate page by the end of the week.

Here are Paul's photos from Thursday night's game against Abbotsford. I stayed home after suffering from pneumonia all week. It sounds like it was an entertaining game. Four goals and four fights.

Here are my photos of Wednesday's game against Chicago. See the next post for a handful of shots taken during pregame warmups.

Once again, Paul offered me the use of his Canon 40D camera. It sure beats the hell out of the Kodak I've been using. I'm still getting used to the feel of the camera (it's much heavier), and I've played around with the settings. You'll probably agree that this batch is better than my first night with the 40D back on October 30.

Here are Paul's photos from Friday night's game against Peoria. Myself, I stayed home with a nasty chest cold, but I watched it on AHL Live.

Tonight or tomorrow morning, I'll have a batch of my photos from Wednesday's game.

Here are some photos taken by Paul Oetlinger at Saturday night's game in Rockford.

After watching the Admirals get plastered in Rockford eight days earlier, this 2-1 victory on Halloween was as sweet as candy.

Better late than never. It's been a crazy week with little free time to sort through photos or to even think about something to write about.

Here are some pics I took at last Friday night's game against Rockford. Paul Oetlinger offered me to use one of his Canon cameras. It was my first time using a 'real' camera at a game, and I'm happy with the results.
